5 Reasons Why I am Buying the New MacBook Pro

As many of you know, the newest Macbook Pro is expected to be launched at the Apple WWDC in San Francisco in June. Here are my top five reasons why I’ll be purchasing the new computer.

1. New “Retina” Display:

  • The new MacBook Pro is expected to launch with a retina display producing HD quality images comparable to those rendered on the current generation iPhone and iPad. It will be visually stunning to watch video or view pictures on a computer that packs in so many pixels to its display.

2. Beefed Up Processor:

  • With Intel’s release of Ivy Bridge, it is logical to assume that those new processors will come imbedded in the new MacBook Pro. Ivy Bridge offers a lot more processing power then the current generation and will speed up everything from opening applications to streaming HD video.

3. Much Slimmer:

  • The new MacBook Pro is going to be a lot slimmer. It is rumored that Apple will be ditching the optical drive on the machine in order to cut down on both width and weight. Apple may even ditch the standard ethernet jack, but fear not your USB port, and SD card reader will stay.

4. New Storage Capabilities:

  • It appears that the new MacBook Pro will not have a conventional spinning hard disk, instead it will have a solid state drive (currently used in smartphones and tablets). The solid sate drive is much more expensive, but it is also a lot more efficient and operates at much lower temperature then a more standard spinning hard drive.

5. It’s Just time to Upgrade:

  • I currently own a 2008 MacBook Pro and believe that the 2012 model will give me the most features for my money. Starting at $1199, these laptops are not cheap, so it is important that you get a machine that will last a long time and you are happy with.
